Frequently Asked Questions
Is this organization legitimate?
Yes, Phi Sigma Pi is a legitimate nonprofit organization. We are over 110 years strong and based on 120+ campuses and geographical locations throughout the United States. Additionally, we are proud to have over 100,000 inducted Members with the mission to improve humanity with honor through Scholarship, Leadership and Fellowship.
Is this an honor society?
Phi Sigma Pi is an active professional organization. We are the perfect blend of a service organization, honor society and a social group. We pride ourselves on bringing additional experiences to our Members beyond what traditional societies are designed to provide.
What are membership requirements?
- A currently enrolled student through a college or university
- Fill out the enrollment Application Form
- Complete the interactive, online National Membership Program orientation which includes going through our Induction Ceremony.
Are there membership fees?
Yes, as a nonprofit organization that provides opportunities to advance humanity, there is a one-time membership fee. When joining directly through the National Membership the one-time membership fee is $279.
If you decide to transfer your membership into a chartered chapter in your local area, you'll be added to the local chapter's roster and will be required to pay membership fees as per the chapter's guidelines, including both national and local dues.
Is there a payment plan option?
Yes, Phi Sigma Pi offers a payment plan option. The total membership fee can be split into three easy payments of $93 over 3 months.
- Pay $93 upfront when you sign up for the plan.
- The next two payments of $93 each will be automatically charged to your original payment method each month.
- Example Timeline:
- First payment: June 2
- Second payment: July 2
- Final payment: August 2
After your final payment is received, the plan automatically ends, no need to cancel, and no further charges. Your new member welcome package (member certificate, pin and graduation cords) will be sent after all payments have been received and the online National Membership Program orientation is completed.
If you choose to pay your membership fees with the Payment Plan option and fail to make payments, your access to National benefits (including your new member welcome package) will be suspended until payments are brought current. This includes payments that are declined during the payment plan cycle.
What are some of the benefits of joining?
What each Member takes away from Membership is different. But, we can share there are basic benefits and programs such as:
- Membership Pin
- Access to Member-only Executive Leadership Program
- Availability for a letter of recommendation
- Volunteer Service Award honors
- Opportunity to wear graduation cords
- Online Networking with other Members
When will I receive my membership package?
You will receive your membership package after both of the following requirements have been completed:
- Your $279 membership fee is paid in full; and
- You have completed the National Membership Program.
How does payment affect my package timeline?
- If you pay the $279 membership fee in full at the time of joining, you will be eligible to receive your package after completing the National Membership Program.
- If you select the payment plan, your membership package will be released after:
- All three installment payments have been successfully processed (totaling $279), and
- You have completed the National Membership Program.
You may choose to pay off your remaining balance early if you are on the payment plan. To do so, please email [email protected] to request that your remaining balance be processed in full.
How do I access the National Membership Program?
- A direct access link to the National Membership Program is sent in your welcome email after you join and submit your membership fee (either paid in full or after your first payment under the payment plan is processed).
- The program link is also available at any time through the Leadership Center on your membership profile within Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity systems.
Important: Email Accuracy
It is your responsibility to provide an accurate and active email address when joining.
Failure to enter a correct email address at the time of registration may result in:
- Delays in receiving your welcome email
- Delays in accessing the National Membership Program
- Missed official communications
- Delays in receiving your membership package
Phi Sigma Pi is not responsible for delays caused by incorrect or inactive email addresses provided during enrollment. If you believe you entered an incorrect email, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible for assistance.
How long will the Member Program take?
One of the great benefits of joining Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity is the flexibility of the National Membership Program (online orientation). Once you register, you can complete the program on your own schedule. We understand that flexibility matters.
The program is organized into five learning components and one activities component. Each learning component contains between one and five sections, with individual sections ranging from approximately 5 to 20 minutes in length, allowing you to move at a pace that works best for you.
What is an "undergraduate" and a "graduate" student?
An "undergraduate" student is a full-time or part-time student currently pursuing a certificate, associate's degree and/or a bachelor's degree. A "graduate" student is a full-time or part-time student currently pursuing a master's or doctoral degree.
How old do I need to be to become a Member?
Since you will sign a membership contract when you join, you must be at least 18 years of age or older.
I belong to another Greek letter org, can I still join?
Yes! Phi Sigma Pi welcomes all students who wish to join even if you are a part of another Greek letter organization. Phi Sigma Pi is part of the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA) and, as such, we are not affiliated with the social Greek Panhellenic Council.
Is Phi Sigma Pi affiliated with other Greek organizations like Phi Theta Kappa?
No. Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity is an independent national honor fraternity and is not affiliated, associated, or connected with Phi Theta Kappa or any other Greek-letter organization.
Because many organizations use Greek letters in their names, confusion can occasionally occur. However, Phi Sigma Pi operates as its own separate legal entity with its own mission, membership structure, programs, and policies.
What if I joined by mistake because I confused Phi Sigma Pi with another organization?
We understand that name similarities among Greek-letter organizations can cause confusion. However:
- Phi Sigma Pi is not responsible for confusion between separate organizations.
- Enrollment decisions are the responsibility of the individual applicant.
- Cancellation and refund requests based on confusion with another organization are still subject to our official Cancellation and Refund Policy.
This means that if a Member requests cancellation due to confusion with another organization, eligibility for a refund will be determined strictly according to the stated policy requirements (including the 15-business-day timeframe and program access provisions).
Where can I verify I am enrolling in Phi Sigma Pi?
Before completing enrollment, Members are encouraged to carefully review:
- The full organization name: Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity
- Official communications and website materials
- Program descriptions and membership agreement terms
If you have questions before enrolling, we encourage you to contact us directly at [email protected] for clarification.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
The cancellation policy is as follows. You may request cancellation of this agreement by submitting the official cancellation form.
Refund Eligibility
A refund is available only if neither of the following events has occurred:
- Fifteen (15) business days have passed since your initial payment/join date; or
- You have accessed, started, or completed any lesson(s) in the Phi Sigma Pi National Membership Program.
If either one of the above events has occurred, you are not eligible for a refund.
If both events have occurred, you are likewise not eligible for a refund.
In other words:
- If you cancel within 15 business days but have accessed, started or completed the National Membership Program, you are not eligible for a refund.
- If you cancel after 15 business days but have not accessed, started or completed the National Membership Program, you are not eligible for a refund.
- If you cancel after 15 business days and have accessed, started or completed the National Membership Program, you are not eligible for a refund.
A refund, less a $30 administrative fee, will only be issued if:
- The cancellation request is submitted within fifteen (15) business days of the initial payment/join date; and
- No lesson content has been accessed, started, or completed.
The $30 administrative fee covers the cost of establishing your licensed program seat and profile account.
Payment Plan Terms
If you elect to use a payment plan:
- All scheduled payments must be made in full and on time.
- Missed, declined, or returned payments will result in suspension of access to National Benefits, including the new member welcome package, until the account is brought current.
- Failure to complete payments does not cancel this agreement or reduce the total amount owed.
Payment Disputes
Initiating a dispute with your payment provider or payment processor does not cancel this agreement. Disputed charges may result in processing delays and additional administrative or collection fees as permitted by applicable law.
